    Patricia Ann Satterwhite

    May 10, 1935 - February 6, 2021

Patricia Ann Shirley Satterwhite, 85, of Athens, Georgia, passed away on February 6, 2021 after a fall in her home. She is survived by her daughters Lee Ann Spradlin (Mike) and Elizabeth Cruz (Tony) and her son J.D. Satterwhite, as well as grandchildren Lauren Cruz, Sarah Jane Cruz, David Spradlin (Laurel), Andrew Cruz (Rachel), Thomas Spradlin (Madelyn), Laura Spradlin, and great-granddaughter Helena Cruz. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis, and daughter, Dr. Julie Satterwhite. Patricia Ann was born in Carbondale, Illinois on May 10, 1935 to William and Clara Shirley. She met her husband while attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and they were married for 55 years. Pat was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and was affectionately known as “Mudder” to the grandkids. Wherever the family lived, Mrs. Satterwhite always found a way to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the churches where she was a member or in her community. Many lives have been influenced for eternity through her ministries that included kindergarten teacher, Bible drill teacher, and a Sunday School teacher to all ages. Pat and Louis taught a young married couples class for many years at Prince Avenue Baptist Church and made a lasting impression on those who were under their teaching. Most recently, Mrs. Satterwhite taught The Joyful Faith Class at PABC and those ladies became such a special part of Pat’s life. One of her greatest civic achievements was when she served as the founder and first Executive Director of the Athens Pregnancy Center, a position that she enjoyed serving in from 1988-1998. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27 at Lord and Stephens East, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia with Rev. Bill Ricketts and Rev. Doug Nix officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:30 followed by the service at 3:00. Burial will follow in Athens Memory Gardens. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Satterwhite Scholarship Fund established by her daughter, Julie, at Mid-America Baptist Seminary, 2095 Appling Road, Cordova, TN 38016.
