Rev. Clarence Patrick Burgess was born to Rev. Clarence and Mearian Burgess
on February 5, 1987. He was the youngest sibling to Tonya and Harold Burgess. At an very early age he showed a strong interest in music and singing. Mr. David Bolton was his first official music teacher along with help from numerous seasoned musicians from the community to help strengthen his musical knowledge. Patrick participated with various groups and choirs from all over Northeast Georgia. The Neal’s Grove Baptist Church in Commerce,Georgia, Thankful Grove Baptist Church in Carlton, Georgia, New Hope Baptist Church in Carlton. Georgia were among his first musician jobs.
Patrick graduated from Oglethorpe County High school in 2006 and briefly attended Gordon College.
Patrick started his church membership at the Oconee Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to New Bethlehem Baptist Church. In 2018, he then decided to join the Friendship Baptist Church where his father is the Pastor.
On July 18, 2004 at Oconee Baptist Church Patrick accepted his calling to preach the gospel. Early in his ministry he sat at the feet of the late Pastor Hoyt Smith and Pastor Sam A. Bishop.
He proudly served as Pastor of two wonderful churches, The New Tate's Grove Baptist Church of Elberton,Ga and The Mount Olive Baptist Church of Crawford, Ga.
He was employed with the Clarke County School District, was a member of the Concerned Men of Oglethorpe County and the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgie Eighth District.
On January 26, 2014 he married Shantisa Collins. The two shared three children Laterius, Destiny and Justin Barnett. He has left behind three nieces and five nephews (Tyler and Tia Edwards, Ryan, Chris, Dasia, Travis, Trevor, Trinity Burgess) a great niece Brooklynn Young. In-laws John and Mary Favor, two sister in laws Angela Deese and Jennifer Burgess. Aunties and Uncles include Sandy (George) Thornton, Myra (Kenley) Waller, Alfred (Betty) Burgess, James (Mary) Burgess, Roy (Shirley) Burgess, Sarah (Charles) Nash ,Annie (John) Cannon. Loretta (Leroy) Dorsey, Sandra ( Douglas) Morse, four great aunts, Virginia Clark, Susie Walter, Mildred Billups and Janie Burgess, three great uncles Marcus Goolsby, Willie Ed Burgess and Robert (Alfreda) Finch and a very large host of cousins.
Patrick had a deep love and respect for his late grandparents, Dea. Alfred "Buddy” Burgess and Rosena Burgess and Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Dorothy Goolsby.
His life spoke for itself and on Tuesday August 23,2022 Patrick answered the ultimate call from his heavenly Father, so if anybody ask you who Patrick was just tell them "He's a Child of God."
