Henry Pierce Williams, 82, died January 31, 2005.
A native of Clarke County, he was the son of the late Grady and Omie Campbell Williams. Mr. Williams was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Missouri during WWII at the time the peace treaty was signed. He served aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Wright during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Williams made his home in New York from 1944 until 1977, when he retired from American Can Company. Following his retirement, he returned to Clarke County and was employed with Conwed Plastics Corporation.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Moran Williams; daughters, Laura Williams (Jay) Rodi of Cary, NC and Linda Williams of Athens; son, Henry P. Williams, Jr. of Athens; sister, Judy Butts of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Gavin Rodi, Kyle Rodi, Kevan Williams and Ryan Williams.
