Jerry Mcree

Mr. Jerry M. McRee, age 91, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Athens Memory Gardens.

Mr. McRee was born in Oconee County, Georgia on December 12, 1929, to Mell McRee and Mattie Lou Hamby McRee. After high school he served his country in the United States Army. He began working for C&S Bank in Athens Georgia at an early age. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He continued his career in banking at the Central & Southern Bank of Georgia, in Milledgeville, retiring as President. He served on the Board of Trustees at Georgia Military College, Georgia College Foundation and United Way of Central Georgia. He was Past President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Past President of the Milledgeville Country Club. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alena McRee, and his brother, William McRee. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Milledgeville.

Survivors include his son, David McRee (Iris) and his daughter, Marsha King (Brad) both of Milledgeville, three grandchildren, Will Jones (Ashleigh), Sydney Solomon (Peter), and Matthew Jones (Jasmine), and a great grandchild, Paisley Jones.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Moores Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Milledgeville.
