Saul Escamilla Lopez

Saul Escamilla Lopez ascended to Heaven peacefully on October 14, 2021 surrounded in the love of his wife and children. Saul was loved by so many family and friends in the Athens community. He was a man of faith, serving at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by Gloria, his loving wife of 31 years; his two children, Saul Jr and Samantha; one grandchild, Lorenzo; his parents, Saul and Eva; and five siblings, María Isabel (Chabe), Ricardo, Veronica, Juan Carlos (Chapa), and Eva.

Saul was born on December 20, 1968 and raised in Mexico before moving to the United States in the 1990s. He originally moved to Chicago, Illinois before settling in Athens, Georgia. Saul loved returning to Mexico to visit his parents on their ranch in San Jose de Rabago, Michoacan as often as he could. Saul also enjoyed visiting Gloria’s family and friends in Chicago.

Saul’s family and friends in two countries will miss his smile and his sense of humor. His legacy of hard work, faith, love, and compassion to others will be carried on by all who knew him.
